Set in the very heart of Edinburgh, The Merchants’ Hall makes a superb setting for a wedding and our friendly events team will ensure that you and your guests have a fantastic, relaxed and memorable day.
The Merchants’ Hall can cater for up to 150 guests for ceremonies and evening receptions. Smaller family weddings can also be held in the fabulous Court Room upstairs.
The dedicated team at The Merchants’ Hall will work with you and your chosen caterers both on the run up to your big day and throughout the event itself. This also includes :-
- Room setup and clearing away your event at the end of the evening.
- A concierge to let your guests in and out of the premises and assist with any necessary disabled access.
- Tables, chairs and bar units free of charge.
- PA System and microphones for background music and speeches.
- A wooden stand for your table plan.
- Our team who can assist you prior to your wedding.
The Ceremony
With its fabulous domed ceiling and charming Minstrels’ Gallery, The Hall makes for a stunning location for any wedding ceremony. Carefully restored and ornately panelled and pillared, The Hall is adorned with plaster work friezes and decorated with portraits and sculptures of the Company’s illustrious founders and benefactors.
Religious, civil and humanist ceremonies can be held within The Merchants’ Hall.
The Hall can host up to 150 guests for a wedding ceremony and the Minstrels’ Gallery can be used for musicians to play during your event and for fantastic wedding photographs and birds eye view shots. Other than flowers, the Hall requires little decoration, due to our fine collection of original artwork and sculptures.
The Meal
The Hall can seat up to 150 guests for a sit-down wedding meal, but also works well with much smaller parties. The Merchants’ Hall Team will work with your chosen caterer, setting up The Hall for your meal ensuring that you can relax on the day. The Merchants’ Hall events team and our caterers will work with you to produce your perfect day.
The Party
The Merchants’ Hall is a fabulous setting for your evening party with an option to finish up to 1am, giving you and your guests extra time to enjoy the celebrations.
The parquet wooden flooring is ideal for dancing the night away to a ceilidh, disco or live band. A list of recommended musicians and bands is available should you require assistance.
