We’re so happy that we decided to hold our wedding reception at the Merchants’ Hall. Erin and the events team could not have been more helpful, kind or efficient; the planning process was very smooth; and their support on the day itself was wonderful. The Hall is a fantastic Edinburgh venue – stunningly beautiful, spacious, and central. Many of our guests expressed to us on the day how lovely it was. We would also recommend Mackenzie’s Catering, who provided delicious food and drink, were versatile in offering dietary alternatives, and were both personal and professional in their service. We have very special memories of our wedding reception at the Hall, and would highly recommend it to all events-planners.

I recently arranged a surprise birthday party for my wife and was recommended to The Merchants’ Hall by Mackenzies Catering. I could not have been any more pleased with the outcome as the hall itself is magnificent and catered well for our supper and ceilidh for 100 guests. Erin and her team made everything so easy in the run up to the surprise event and their assistance on the day and that evening was exemplary and personal. The communication between my daughter as party organiser and Mike, at Mackenzies Catering, and Erin, on behalf of The Merchants’ Hall, was fantastic and led to an evening that my family and my wife especially will never forget. I have no hesitation in recommending The Merchants’ Hall and Erin as the Events and Marketing Co-ordinator and hope to return in the future.

‘Radio Forth have held two recruitment events at The Merchant Halls and will be returning for more events in the future. The venue is a fantastic versatile space offering many different types of set ups for events. The team at the venue are great to deal with and would have no problem in recommending the venue to other potential bookers’

We thought the Merchants’ Hall was perfect for our wedding. It is very central so convenient for people coming to Edinburgh for the wedding and they could feel right in the centre – and see a bit of the castle during the drinks reception! There was quite a lot of flexibility with what we could do, which meant we could be a bit creative and make the wedding personal to us. The staff were very helpful and had thought of lots of the details, and very welcoming to our guests on the day; and worked seamlessly with the catering company.

“I booked The Merchants’ Hall for two events in June for our members and donors. We needed a venue that was central and accessible with good tech facilities, and The Merchant’s Hall delivered on all of this. From my first enquiry to the day of the event the team were really helpful and both events went seamlessly thanks to the excellent events team. The feedback from our members was really positive and they especially loved the central location. I would definitely use The Merchants’ Hall for future events and would recommend the venue to other event planners”

Jon Patrick and Claire Maclean – May 2016

“We got married in the Merchants’ Hall in May of this year and could not have asked for a better day. The setting is tremendous in the Hall, grand but also intimate enough to feel as though you are really with all your guests throughout the day. The option of having different spaces in the hall to celebrate in gave us a real sense of flexibility with our planning and made the day feel like a tour of one of Edinburgh’s “Grande Dame” buildings. The run-up to the wedding could not have been made any smoother or easier by the staff at Merchants’ Hall. Erin, Louise and the events team were able to accommodate all our requests and keep us on budget! Also, the options to have our band in the Minstrels’ Gallery, while the wedding party danced under the beautiful portraits and architecture of the main hall was a really special touch. We would wholeheartedly recommend the Merchants’ Hall as a wedding venue and we will always treasure the day we had together there.”
